Enarmade banditer
Pug Thugs of Nitropolis is an ELK Studios slot set in the Nitropolis universe. ELK presents it as a 6-reel, 6-row slot, with connected lines in all four directions, Nitro Reels, wilds, big symbols, coin wins, a Max Win coin, a Bonus Game and a Super Bonus Game.
The most important figure announced by ELK is the maximum potential of 25,000x the bet. On the other hand, the RTP, volatility, release date and betting range are not clearly displayed in the public elements retained. They are therefore not forced in this review.
Pug Thugs of Nitropolis technical specifications
Pug Thugs of Nitropolis does not read like a classic payline slot. Its particularity comes from the 4-Way Action: connected lines can start from the four edges of the grid. When these lines cross, the intersections can create Nitro Reels.

This caution on figures does not detract from reading the game: the visible mechanics are quite clear. The 6x6 grid gives space, the corners of the feature screens serve as triggers and the Nitro Reels add a layer of density in the central zone.
4-Way Action and Nitro Reels
The 4-Way Action is the heart of the system. Instead of being limited to a left-to-right reading, the connected lines start from all four sides of the grid. The crossings become important, as they can transform certain positions into Nitro Reels.
A Nitro Reel occupies the space of a single symbol, but can contain a stack of up to 8 symbols. ELK specifies that these Nitro Reels appear in the 4x4 inner zone. This is what gives the game its compact but explosive side: a square can carry much more value than it looks at first glance.
Nitro Insane, feature screens and bonuses
The Nitro Insane feature can trigger at the start of any spin and place a random number of Nitro Reels in the central 4x4 zone. The four feature screens located in the corners can also trigger Make Big, Nitro Wild, Nitro Match or Collect.
The Bonus Game is triggered with three or more bonus symbols, with guaranteed Nitro Insane at the start of each spin. If the trigger contains at least one Super Bonus symbol, the game transitions to the Super Bonus Game, this time with sticky Nitro Reels.
X-iter and player vigilance
X-iter allows jumping to five different modes. ELK indicates an entry at 3x the bet, which gives more than three times the chance of triggering the bonus, then more aggressive levels up to the 500x Super Bonus Game with sticky Nitro Reels.
These modes should not be read as a guarantee of winning. They speed up access to the action, but they also increase bet exposure. Before using X-iter, you must check the rules displayed by the casino, the budget committed and the exact RTP of the version offered.
Our review
Pug Thugs of Nitropolis has a strong identity: 6x6 grid, 4-Way Action, Nitro Reels, corners, Max Win coin and multi-level bonuses. It is an interesting review for players who like highly mechanical ELK games, with a lot of things that can happen in the same grid.
